Denver – Olathe

Wow, how quickly time goes by when one is on vacation. Well, you finally get to a place and some how get settled in and the next thing you know is that you are up and going again. We arrived in Olathe, Kansas around 7:45pm. We were happily greeted by the Perdaris family. Many of our friends have become extended family. Such a blessing.

They had Oklahoma Joe’s BBQ ready for us. Yum-oh BBQ beef brisket! Shay and I were probably more excited about it than the kids. All they cared about was the home made fort that was calling their name. Well how could you blame them. Food or running around freely after being buckled down in a car seat for hours and hours?
Yeah, you would feel the same. At some point in your life, you must have had this experience as a child of course. It’s a whole different point of view for Shay and I…as parents(maybe crazy parents) driving over 2000 miles one way with three children. Yeah, not just three children, but children all under the age of 6. (Blank Stare)

We did have a little over an hour to hangout with our friends after the kids went to bed. Talking about parenting…children…about the last time we were all together for a wedding…before children. Good times…well it was one time that we met, but that doesn’t matter. When you connect with people, friends, family in a whole different level you can come together and continue on where you left off. Tempted to stay up again…like what we did in Denver, but we actually got to bed before 1:30am. Again we are at whole different time zone and ALL our sleeping patterns are out of whack.

We are thankful for a good nights rest and surviving a 10 hour day.

Yes…time for those quotes and conversation’s again.

Just leaving Denver:

8:00 Shay: “Today is Monday, right?”
Ollie: Waaaa = tired, sleepy, hold me!

8:00-9:30
Chloe n Walle: silence

9:15
Irene: “Look u can use a Contigo travel mug as a back massage.”

9:35
Walle: “When we getting there?”
Irene: “Here we go!”

Walle: A minute later same question.
Again same question five minutes later

Shay: “We’ll get there at 5:49.”
Shay: “We can see for miles.”
Shay: “Chloe is getting sleepy.”

Irene: (thinking) “Am I going to see a Starbucks.”

12pm
Irene: “Taco Johns?”
Proceeds to research:
Grilled Burrito

“TJ’s Grilled Burritos are bursting at the folds with flavor. Our large flour tortillas are packed with golden Potato Olés®, delicious cheese and your choice of either specially seasoned beef with Pico de gallo or all white grilled chicken with creamy ranch dressing. The whole burrito is then grilled, leaving a hot and neat-to-eat burrito with a taste all its own.” (thinking if I opened a real So Cal Mexican Restaurant here I’d be rich!)

Ollie: “Grunt, Waaah, Grunt, Yawn” =  “Sleepy, how much longer.”

Walle n Chloe: silence. (Monsters Inc.)

Irene: “Looks its a hay bale.”

Irene: “When you going to get gas?” (thinking I need an ice frappe! But doesn’t see any Starbucks in sight)

Shay: “Oh in the next 100 miles.”

Irene: blank stare.

1pm:
Irene reading sign: Come see largest prairie dog in the world.( again blank stare)

Irene: “Taco Johns?"

Walle: “I like McDonald’s. I bet it has a play area!”

Walle: Five minutes later…”I think I like Carl’s Jr. Better than Mc.Donald’s”

2pm:
Irene: (thinking) “Why did I choose to drive this leg of the trip? What would I do if a tornado came? Oh my shoulders hurt and my hands will need to be peeled off the steering wheel. “

5:00pm
Irene: (thinking) “Oh BBQ Beef Brisket, I can almost taste you!”
