14 days to go, Pumpkins, Costumes, the family of God and milk from heaven

Oh how did I feel when I went for a check up and my doctor said, “Your baby is still pretty high up there.”
I said, “I sure don’t feel like it.” With that I waddle along and wait to meet my new little one. The anticipation is keeping me on my toes and one lady said… “I’ve never heard of anyone who stayed pregnant forever.”

Each year…we make this trek to Valley Center to visit Bates Nut Farm. It’s become our family tradition.
We could spend hours and hours looking at pumpkins and running around…well for me more like waddling around or maybe I could have sat down in a wheel barrel and be rolled around. I was the live walking pumpkin that day. Funny sign that said $6.00 per pumpkin….they could have charged $6.00 per pound for me. So that would be times 1….6……?????ha ha ha There was even a family who was speaking English at first….and then as soon as they walked by me, they started to tell their kids that I was some kind of pumpkin(in Spanish )…so what do I do…I say something like “Look here kids, your parents are talking about me!” It was pretty funny.

Oh costumes….I really wish that I was more uhh, how do you say domestic that I could sew my kids costumes. Well not in this life. I’ve resorted to finding the coupons and finding the best deal on getting my kids their costumes. It’s the battle of “Ok, which one would you like to be for your harvest festival costumes this year?” And the answer keeps changing…even as it leads up to the day of purchase or as we drive away with the one we already had paid for. But to say, I think the kids are pretty  happy with what they got this year. It’s fun to see their imaginations of who they are….my fairy for a daughter who needs rescuing from her super hero of a little brother.

I had a visit with a friend the other day…and how blessed I was to sit in her living room, with a puppy
sleeping on my lap and watching her fold laundry and be around her three little ones as we talk about life.
As we get deeper into our conversation we talk about life struggles. I really can’t imagine not having the family of God to talk with and to share with honestly about our struggles with raising children, being the wives we are supposed to be and the battles of our mind when we believe the lies of the world. I’m glad that I have my “sisters” to speak truth to me…that I can battle this hard war going on around us. She had shared a need with me and I started to pray. I said, “Lord this is something that you can meet, no doubt about it. I know that some how the lies of the world will have me not trust that you can provide. So help my unbelief and I will seek you and see how you are going to answer this.”  And the Lord poured out a blessing much more than I could have imagine…it was “milk from heaven” dropped off by an anonymous person at my friends door step. How encouraged I was to see…and more came from heaven that evening.

"therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘what shall we eat?’ or ‘what shall we drink?’ or ‘what shall we wear?’… Your heavenly Father knows that you need them all."
Matt 6:25
