The New Normal….
This week marks 5 weeks that our little guy Oliver joined the clan of Phillips. I think I’ve come to realize this new normal of this stage of life. Yes this is my new normal that has come to greet me. I knew that I had to make some adjustments in my life…but ones I thought about were things like how many car seats in the car, where to put the car seats, oh yeah the diaper bag, don’t forget the burp cloths, extra change of clothes, diapers, WIPES and water….but wait trying to leave on time means, 20 minutes more time it takes to load and buckle three children in the car…so give yourself about 40 minutes instead.
Those are just some things…currently a new normal for me:
- Laptop on table in my office and baby sleeping on his belly in my lap.
- The number of times my cup of coffee is heated up in the morning…my tally 6 times has been the average.
- The decision to get on the treadmill or to sleep some more.
- The number of times(cannot count anymore) I have to tell my 3 year old that he needs to be gentle with his baby brother.
- The number of times I’m being told by my 3 year old that “baby is crying and I think he wants you.”
- Rocking a baby standing up is different from rocking a baby sitting down.
- Me time means alone time in the shower or in the bathroom…though my 3 year old doesn’t quite understand that.
- Vacuuming means, baby is in the carrier strapped to me.
- Laundry has tripled in amount as it seems…or maybe just the fact that I haven’t folded them.
I think the new normal will be adding to itself more each week…but this is the journey I always dreamed about. I still think it’s amazing…to see the Lord’s grace in my life. For Him to know that my parenting skills are soooo flawed but yet I’ve been blessed with these babies. I don’t deserve them and still He has given them to me. I see a lot of myself in my kids…and I’m humbled.
You might have noticed no blog last week…due to Walle running, loosing his balance and hitting the metal frame on our bed…resulting with a cut ear. That’s our boy!
Just 8 days left till Christmas!
By the way folks….you can now subscribe to my blog via email. Every time I post…you’ll receive an update. Yippee!
